Student Life Office at St. John's College

Consistent with the mission of the Hospital Sisters, the Student Life Office at St. John's College encourages the holistic development of students. Throughout a student's program, there are several opportunities for students to grow outside of the classroom through leadership, mission, and community service opportunities.

The Student Life Office also seeks to provide a supportive environment that enhances student successes and well being.

Campus Food Options

HSHS St. John's Hospital is across the street from the College and offers a cafeteria with several options. There are also several downtown restaurants in Springfield. Most of our students bring their lunches. At the College there is a large student lounge that has refrigerators for the students.

Housing

St. John's College does not provide nor recommend housing options for students.

Orientation

New student orientation helps students acclimate to St. John's College. A variety of programs and topics are covered, including: mission of the College, academic policies, online learning, library information, student health, financial aid and more. All students who are enrolled are required to attend.

Health and Wellness

St. John's College values the health and wellness of our students. Here are a few ways we provide for our students:

Cardiac Rehab

Nursing students can use the exercise equipment in Cardiac Rehab during the open exercise times. To take advantage of this opportunity, you must attend a 20-30 minute orientation. You will sign a waiver allowing you to exercise on your own. Cardiac Rehab staff will then forward your name to security so you can swipe your badge and exercise.

Faculty and Staff led exercise sessions

Each semester faculty and staff volunteer to lead different exercise sessions specifically for our students. Each semester will vary on the exercises offered and times. Please check with the Student Development Office to find out more information.

Tranquility Room

For the spiritual and emotional need of our students and to respect the simplicity of the Franciscan culture, St. John's College offers a tranquility room. The room includes calming colors, a recliner, and a place for student to center themselves and reflect.
