Annual Share Holiday Memorial Service set for Dec. 6
November 21, 2024
HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital will host the Share Holiday Memorial Service Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. in St. Mary’s Chapel. The annual event honors babies lost during pregnancy, at birth or in early infancy.
“The holidays can be a difficult time for families who have experienced a loss,” said Karla Marshall, Supervisor of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care at St. Mary’s Hospital. “This service provides a compassionate space for families to honor their babies and find solace among others who understand their grief. It serves as a reminder that no one has to grieve alone.”
Families are welcome to share a reading, photograph, reflection or bring an ornament to place on the Share holiday tree in memory of their child. The service will conclude with a procession to the Share Garden, where participants will place a white flower at the feet of the Angel of Hope statue.
Share is a support group dedicated to comforting families who have experienced the loss of a baby or infant. For more information, call 217-464-2045.
