Deacon John Fridley (left) was honored with the 2024 St. Francis Award by the Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) Board, presented to him recently by Damond Boatwright, HSHS President and CEO. This award is given to a local HSHS ministry board member who is dedicated to their community, serves as a brand ambassador for HSHS and is engaged in local HSHS Foundation efforts and the HSHS global mission through Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach. Board members are nominated by their local CEO and presented to the HSHS Governance and Nominating Committee who selects the recipient of the award.
Fridley has been an active and supportive board member at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese for the past seven years. As a deacon in the Diocese of Belleville, Fridley is actively involved in the community and supports HSHS and its local colleagues and patients in numerous ways. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years and received his Doctor of Philosophy in Education Administration from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He has used his past experience as an adjunct professor at Lindenwood University and as a legal administrator at Thompson Coburn LLP in his role as an HSHS board member since 2017.
