Auxiliary donates $27,000 to Foundation
May 29, 2024
The HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese Auxiliary recently gifted HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Foundation with over $27,000 for additional equipment to continue providing high-quality care for patients, as well as help fund a mural for pediatric patients.
The funds will be used for two vital sign monitors for Clinton County Rural Health (CCRH), a family physician practice and walk-in clinic at One South and a GlideScope visualization device for anesthesia. Additionally, the donation will help fund the children’s waiting room mural at CCRH.
“We are so grateful for the Auxiliary’s generous donation and the service its volunteers provide for our hospital,” shared David Garris, Director of HSHS Southern Illinois Foundations. “These donations are just a glimpse of the kindness and compassion that the Auxiliary shows our hospital and its patients. The donation towards the mural will bring joy to our pediatric patients during their time in the hospital, and the equipment will help our colleagues better serve our patients.”
The Auxiliary is a volunteer organization committed to promoting and advancing the welfare of St. Joseph’s through public relations, services to the hospital and fundraising. Among the organization’s projects are the annual Used Book Fair plus used book sales held within the hospital, HealthPlex and Clinton County Rural Health; Gift Shop; quilt sales and raffles; flower and bundt cake sales; gifts in kind such as memory books, baskets, blankets and coloring books for pediatric patients; volunteer support at Health Fairs; and other special events and in-department assistance.
Auxiliary membership is free of charge and open to all. While volunteer service is not a requirement of membership, there are many volunteer opportunities available for those who would like to be involved. For more information on volunteering, contact Chris Gebke, Director of Volunteer Services, at 618-526-5351 or email Christine.Gebke@hshs.org.
