Panda Cares Day celebration spreads joy to pediatric patients

In celebration of Panda Cares Day, Panda Express in Springfield visited HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital on Thursday, Aug. 8 to spread joy to pediatric patients. Panda Cares Day celebrates the anniversary of Panda Cares, the philanthropic arm of Panda Express, and all of the impact Panda has had on Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Representatives from Panda Express locations in Springfield visited HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital to deliver 100 meals to pediatric patients and their families. Panda Express spread joy to each patient with a fun craft and giveaway items.
“We are so thankful for all the support that Panda Express has shown our pediatric patients throughout the years,” said Hannah Hahn, Annual Gifts Officer, HSHS St. John’s Foundation. “With the donations received from the partnership between Panda Express and Children’s Miracle Network, St. John’s Children’s Hospital has been given tools needed to deliver high-quality, compassionate health care to our patients.”
The two Panda Express locations in Springfield and six other locations in the Champaign-Springfield area have raised over $567,000 for St. John’s Children’s Hospital since the partnership began in 2009. In 2023, the eight locations raised $63,713 for the pediatric patients of St. John’s Children’s Hospital. As the only children’s hospital in Springfield, the funds raised by the eight Panda Express locations benefit the life-changing medical care and programs available at St. John’s Children’s Hospital.
HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital is one of 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals nationwide that raise funds and awareness to provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. St. John’s Children’s Hospital has experienced and compassionate child health specialists who are available for each child’s care and their family at a moment’s notice.
