Program Description

Administrative fellows will be part of a longstanding and evolving health system, allowing them the opportunity to embrace the mission and ministry of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis. Each year three Administrative fellows are selected and spend their first six months in functional and operational rotations at our System Services Center in Springfield, Illinois, and then transferring into an operational role within our system.

At the end of their 18-month fellowship, our goal for each fellow that successfully completed their internship is to find permanent placement in an operational leadership role based on the needs of the local systems where they will leverage their experience to help implement HSHS programs.

Program Structure

The first six months of the fellowship is spent completing priority projects for Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain Management, Nalin Kulasekara while observing and engaging with system level executive leaders at HSHS system office in Springfield, Ill. The next 12 months is focused on operational roles at three HSHS market hospitals (Springfield, IL, O’Fallon, IL, or Green Bay, WI).

HSHS fellows will gain exposure at local and system board meetings, travel with leaders to locations across the system (Wisconsin and Illinois), and attend professional development conferences. The HSHS Fellows will be assigned a fellow mentor and an executive mentor as well.

Focus on Hospital Operations

HSHS is committed to providing the exposure and experience needed to successfully lead operational functions within an acute care setting after 18 months. Placement in operational leadership role is the ideal end goal for this fellowship program.
