Share Walk for Remembrance and Hope set for October 12

September 18, 2024

October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Prevention Month and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital’s yearly Share Walk for Remembrance and Hope commemorates the lives of babies lost due to miscarriage, stillbirth and infant death. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, October 12 with registration and family activities starting at 9 a.m. The memorial service and walk will begin at 10 a.m. starting at Nelson Park Pavilion #2.

“As we walk together, we keep memories alive and offer support to one another. Whether a recent loss, or one that occurred several years ago, we encourage parents and loved ones to walk the steps our babies will never take,” said Karla Thornton, supervisor of mission integration and spiritual care at St. Mary’s Hospital.

The hospital’s yearly Share Walk and memorial service includes a walk along the lakeshore, family activities and a memorial service where each child’s name will be read to celebrate each life, no matter how long or short.

Registration must be completed by September 23 to ensure your baby’s name is included in the program. Please reach out to Karla Thornton at Karla.Thornton@hshs.org or by phone at 217-464-2045 to register for the walk.
