Imaging Recognized with Cardiac CT Quality Award

HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital is proud to announce that it has received the HeartFlow Inc. Cardiac CT Quality Award for achieving exceptional quality in cardiac CT imaging. This prestigious recognition is awarded to institutions whose cardiac CT images enable successful processing for Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) CT in over 90% of cases.

Using FFR CT, Prairie Cardiovascular physicians are able to identify blockages in the heart's blood vessels, known as coronary artery disease, without the need for invasive cardiac catheterization.

Executive Medical Director of Prairie Cardiovascular Dr. Ziad Issa said, “I commend the Prairie Cardiovascular Decatur team for their exceptional ability to produce high-quality CT images, which assist doctors in determining whether cardiac catheterization is necessary and in selecting the most appropriate treatment approach.”

Unlike traditional stress testing, cardiac CT imaging provides detailed anatomic insights similar to invasive cardiac catheterization. Recent American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association chest pain guidelines recommend cardiac CT imaging over stress testing when the necessary expertise and equipment are available.

“We are honored to be recognized by HeartFlow for our commitment to delivering high-quality cardiac CT imaging,” said Dr. Theodore Addai, Medical Director of Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging and Prairie Cardiovascular physician. “This award reflects our dedication to excellence in cardiac care and our mission to provide patients with the most advanced, noninvasive diagnostic tools available.”

By achieving this distinction from HeartFlow Inc., St. Mary’s Hospital continues to lead the way in state-of-the-art cardiovascular diagnostics, ensuring patients receive accurate, timely assessments for heart disease.
