Detect heart issues early with a Heart Scan

With February being Heart Health Awareness Month, HSHS St. John’s Hospital and Prairie Cardiovascular remind everyone to be good to their heart and schedule a heart scan. These quick, painless heart screenings done on a CT scanner detect early buildup in the coronary arteries.
“The best way to treat heart disease is by detecting it early so that you can make lifestyle changes or get further testing or treatment to prevent more serious issues,” said Sheri Barnett, DNP, APRN, with Prairie Cardiovascular.
Those who have the following risk factors should especially consider having a heart scan:
