Car Safety Seat Check event set for September 14

HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital is hosting a Car Safety Seat Check event on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Women and Children’s Center parking lot at 400 N. Ninth St. in Springfield. A certified child passenger safety tech will work with parents and guardians to ensure that their child’s safety seat is installed correctly and answer any questions.
 
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of accidental injury-related death among children ages 14 and under. In Illinois, 80 percent of child safety seats are not installed correctly. When used and installed correctly, child safety seats can prevent injury and save lives.
