This class is designed to prepare you for your new role as a parent. We will discuss the emotional and physical changes that you will experience after the birth of your baby. How will I cope with a baby? Why do babies cry? How can I calm my baby? What kind of support should I have when I get home? These and many more questions will be answered. A local pediatrician and/or nurse practitioner will be present to answer questions about how to choose a baby doctor.
One support person may attend class with you. This is an in-person class. Please do not register until you are 20 weeks (5 months) gestation or greater. Registration is required. All instructors are registered nurses. The class is free for expectant parents delivering at St. John’s Hospital. For expectant parents delivering at a different hospital there is a $25 fee payable the evening of class. Cash only please. You will be contacted via email the week prior to the class date for confirmation on attending and the specific class location. All classes are held at St. John’s Hospital. Please enter through the lobby. Parking is available in the ramp at 9th & Carpenter Street. Please stop at the information desk and they will assist with directions to the class location.
