This class provides information on understanding newborn traits, newborn behaviors, and crying & comforting. We will go over what skin-to-skin contact is and discuss its importance, as well as, newborn procedures and newborn appearances. Many parents want to know about what to expect with newborn behaviors.

This class provides information on newborn states of alertness, newborn sleep, room-sharing, and newborn breathing patterns. Why do babies cry? This will be answered by talking about newborn crying patterns, comfort techniques, coping with a crying baby, and new parent emotions that will go along with this brand-new life experience. Parents will better understand feeding and hunger cues, and then with that, go right on into diapering basics. The last part of the class will wrap up with newborn health and safety. After taking Baby Basics Class, parents will be much more comfortable taking home their newborn.

This is a virtual class held on Zoom. Please do not register until you are 20 weeks (5 months) gestation or greater. Registration is required. All instructors are registered nurses. The Zoom link will be emailed to you. You will be contacted via email the week prior to the class date for confirmation on attending, and specific instructions on how to log onto Zoom.
The support person can attend class with you. There is no need to register them separately.
