Kenneth Littrell awarded St. Isidore Friend of Agriculture Award
March 27, 2025
At the HSHS St. Francis Hospital Foundation Farm Family event, the Foundation awarded Kenneth Littrell with the St. Isidore Friend of Agriculture Award. Littrell is the sixth recipient of the award given by the Foundation’s agriculture committee honoring a local farmer.
Born and raised in Litchfield, Littrell has farmed for 75 years and recalls driving a tractor when he was six years old. He and his wife Patsy are the proud parents of five children, with eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, with their seventh grandchild due in April.
In addition to farming, Littrell enjoyed showing horses, which he and his family did for 20 years, leading to his involvement with rodeos, ultimately spanning 30 years of rodeo participation. He was president of the State of Illinois Rodeo Association and National Rodeo Association. He is a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he has served as a Sunday school teacher. A strong advocate for taking care of the land and practicing soil conservation, Littrell was previously awarded the Goodyear Conservation Award for outstanding accomplishments in resource conservation.
The award was presented at the Foundation’s Farm Family event, a free event held for Macoupin and Montgomery county farmers and their families to come together for a day of health, education and community. Attendees enjoyed complimentary health screenings, a breakfast buffet compliments of Litchfield Family Practice Center and door prizes from area businesses. Presentations by Heather Hampton+Knodle of Fillmore on “A Day in the Life of a Farmer: Living Local While Feeding the World,” and Montgomery County Farm Bureau Manager Katie Wilson on farm bureau programs, completed the event.
