Aquablation therapy is a surgical treatment for patients with an enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Having an enlarged prostate is the number one reason men visit their urologist. Approximately one in two, ages 51 to 60 have an enlarged prostate, and the incidence increases every decade of life if left untreated.

BPH can cause significant health problems, including:

  • irreversible bladder or kidney damage
  • bladder stones
  • incontinence

At HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, we are proud to be among the first in the region to offer this advanced, minimally invasive treatment to help men suffering from BPH to get their life back and feel like themselves again.

Aquablation therapy, a different type of treatment for BPH, has many benefits:

  • It’s advanced and minimally invasive, which lower recovery times.
  • Uses the power of water delivered with robotic precision.
  • Best-in-class, long-lasting symptom relief.
  • Low rates of irreversible complications, regardless of prostate size or shape.

What is Aquablation Therapy?

Aquablation therapy uses the power of water delivered with robotic precision to provide long-lasting BPH relief without compromise.

It is precise, consistent, and predictable, and provides long-term relief no matter how large your prostate. (Ref. 2, 3)

Aquablation therapy is performed by a urologist using the AquaBeam Robotic System, the first FDA-cleared surgical robot using automated tissue resection for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms due to BPH.

For targeted, controlled, and immediate removal of prostate tissue, it combines:

  • Real-time, multi-dimension imaging.
  • Automated robotic technology.
  • Heat-free waterjet ablation technology.

Aquablation therapy surgically removes the prostate tissue causing symptoms. No incision is made in the abdomen, as the prostate is reached through the urethra.

Aquablation therapy is performed at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL and is done under anesthesia. The procedure typically takes less than an hour and may involve an overnight stay.

Aquablation therapy has been proven as a safe and effective treatment for patients suffering from lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Aquablation therapy can be performed on prostates of any size.

Your urologist will evaluate if you are an appropriate candidate for Aquablation therapy.

Long-term Relief

In clinical studies, Aquablation therapy has been shown to provide durable symptom relief. (Ref. 2)

Take the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) Quiz to measure how severe your symptoms are.
