Record-Breaking Gift of $475,000 to Foundation

February 20, 2025

Gathered near the entrance of the 30,000 square-foot HSHS Holy Family Hospital Thrift Shop, hospital leaders, community members and volunteers were on hand to witness the Hospital Auxiliary present a record-breaking gift of $475,000 to Holy Family Hospital.

Since the inception of the Thrift Shop in 1990, the Auxiliary has provided nearly $9 million in gifts to the hospital to fund various initiatives and technologies to better serve the residents of Greenville and surrounding communities.

Speaking to the Auxilians, Holy Family Hospital Chief Administrative Officer Teresa Cornelius said, “The everyday contributions of the Auxiliary don’t go unnoticed. We have so much gratitude for the countless hours you all contribute toward the success of this thrift shop and the success of the hospital.”

Hospital leaders from various departments shared how their colleagues and patients have been impacted by the amazing gifts from the Auxiliary over the years. “The contributions to the nursing unit from the Auxiliary are just incredible,” said Michelle Herzberg, director of nursing at Holy Family Hospital. “Thanks to this gift, the inpatient unit is able to purchase new vital sign machines and upgrade the nurse call-light system, giving our nurses the tools to better care for our patients.”

The HSHS Holy Family Thrift Shop is located at 700 S 4th Street, Greenville, IL 62246.
