Pink Bowl raises $2,100
November 06, 2024
HSHS Holy Family Hospital recently donated $2,100 to the Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation in Greenville through its 13th annual sponsorship of the “Pink Bowl,” a high school varsity football game between the Greenville Comets and the Vandalia Vandals.
The competition promotes October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and raises funds with pink T-shirts sold in both high schools and their respective communities. The festivities are topped off when players from both teams, community members and a sponsoring local business paint the host stadium pink on the night of the big game.
Proceeds are donated to the Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation, which was founded to provide financial help to Bond County residents dealing with cancer. The funds awarded to individuals help pay for medical care and other needs not covered by insurance, such as specially fitted garments, travel to and from treatment appointments, and other accommodations or special needs.
HSHS Holy Family Hospital proudly carries on this annual tradition during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to support the Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation’s efforts to help area residents facing cancer while bringing together HSHS colleagues and local communities.
This year’s game was played on Oct. 4, with Vandalia winning over Greenville, 35-34.
