Free, Public Narcan Dispenser installed
November 14, 2024
HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital recently installed a Narcan dispenser for free, public use near its emergency department so anyone can save a life from a suspected opioid overdose. The dispenser contains free Narcan, instructions on how to administer it and resource materials.
“By providing easy access to this life-saving medication, we hope to empower individuals to act in critical moments and save lives,” said Good Shepherd Hospital Nurse Manager Karla Dixon.
A state grant and community partnership with the Moultrie-Shelby County Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC) Council provided the funding for the dispenser.
If you or someone you know is struggling with substance use, Good Shepherd Hospital encourages you to reach out for support by calling the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration national helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
