Govero Appointed Interim President and CEO of HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital


Interim President and CEO of HSHS St. Joseph's HospitalSPRINGFIELD, IL – Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) today announced that Beth Govero, RN, MSN, CMSRN, has accepted an invitation to serve as the interim president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, Illinois. Govero will begin her new role on Mon., Jan. 18, 2016.

“With more than 15 years of nursing and progressive leadership experience, including as chief nursing officer of St. Joseph’s, Beth is equipped to handle daily operations and leadership of St. Joseph’s Hospital,” said Mary Starmann-Harrison, Hospital Sisters Health System president and CEO. “We are honored to appoint her as the interim president and CEO at HSHS St. Joseph’s.”

“As a nursing leader, Beth has successfully led patient care services, and improved staffing initiatives and colleague engagement,” said Jim Dover, HSHS division president and CEO. “She was actively involved in St. Joseph’s being recognized last year by the Illinois Hospital Association as one of only five hospitals statewide that received the Quality Excellence Achievement Award.”

Beth previously served as the director of nursing operations at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, nurse director for surgery services with Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and adjunct faculty at the Goldfarb School of Nursing.

Govero holds a Master of Science in healthcare and nursing administration and is a certified medical-surgical nurse. She is Lean Six Sigma certified and a doctoral candidate at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.
